Human Trafficking is the present day form of child slavery. It is the illegal trade of children and teens who are victims that re forced, coerced, and deceived into labor including sexual exploitation which results in trafficking national and international.
Each year, it is estimated that 2.5 million women and children are trafficked across the global. Most human trafficking victims are coheres into this trade under false pretense with the promise of job opportunities and a better life. Once the victims are in the trade, their passports and what monies they have are confiscated. With no money, no shelter, and no one to turn to, they are left at the mercy of the perpetrator.
To protect, and combat human trafficking – a lot of work needs to be done, and it must start at the grass roots level. When citizens become activist and advocates, then we will see an end to human trafficking of women, teens, and girls both national and abroad. While Texas is close to the Mexican border, it has become a Hub for Human Trafficking. The organization will educate the public to raise awareness.
